Chapter 6: The Giant's Drink
1. Describe the battleroom. What importance do gravity, lasers, and spacesuits have there?
The battleroom is null gravity, and those who enter it must be wearing a space suit, equiped with a laser gun.
2. How do Ender and Alai become friends? What is surprising about Ender's relationship with Alai?
Ender and Alai became friend after conjuring a smart tactic to defeat the other team by freezing their space suits, making them unable to move. The only thing that makes it surprising is the fact that Alai was Bernard's bestfriend.
3. Who do the boys choose to be their launch leader? Why does their choice seem appropriate?
The boys choose Ender to be their launch leader because they see that he is far more intelligent and can quickly develop tactics to defeat the other team, it as an appropriate choice because Ender and Alai were the leaders of the group at that time, and winning made them even bigger candidates for the position of leaders.
4. Describe the computer game. Why can't Ender beat the giant at first? How does he eventually win? What lesson does this teach Ender?
The reason Ender couldn't beat the giant at first was because he had to guess which cup wasn't poison, and since he usually knows what's going on, this angered him greatly. Instead of playing by the rules, he kills the giant and assures his never to return again. Although he achieved his goal, he wasn't happy. He thought the only way he could win at things was to harm another, and this made him think of Peter.
